Community Safe Room Operation Plans
Tornado Watch
A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of a tornado in the area and indicates the possibility of tornado development. The site-coordinator/police and fire departments will monitor the weather through the direct feed link with the Choctaw County Emergency Management Service and the National Weather Service.
Tornado Warning
A tornado warning means that a tornado has actually been spotted or is strongly indicated on radar. When a tornado warning is broadcast, EMA will instruct Choctaw County E911 to activate the severe weather warning sirens to alert our community that a warning has been issued and for residents to seek shelter immediately. The site-coordinator will then OPEN the safe room.
